Comparison of Routes A-D with Respect to Mass Consumption, Environmental, Health and Safety Aspects 

In this section we compare various parameters for the four different routes in general and for the reduction processes in particular. The main emphasis is placed on the quantitative comparison of the mass consumption, whereas environmental, health and safety aspects are only treated briefly and in a qualitative way. 

For clarity, the categories given in the following figures are briefly explained here, for more information refer to [13]. 

Sewage/water. water used and sewage produced in the synthesis, e.g., for extractions. Solvent organic solvents, in which the reactions take place. 

Auxiliaries (isolation) chemicals used for the isolation, e.g., the organic solvent for extractions.
