The resins have also found use in a number of other directions. The use of the resins in floorings and road surfacings is somewhat spectacular. In spite of the high initial cost, such floorings have excellent chemical resistance and resistance to wear. The resins are claimed to be of particular value at road junctions and roundabouts, where severe wear is experienced, but where repairs and maintenance operations need to be kept to a minimum because of the resultant disruption in the flow of traffic.

Conversion of an urban major/minor junction to a roundabout can reduce accidents by about 30%. 

Mini-roundabouts are often introduced at priority junctions as a traffic safety technique but have a poor record for fail-to-give-way accidents on former main road approaches. They have a poor accident record for two-wheeled vehicles. 

For three-arm sites the mean accident rate for mini-roundabouts is similar to that of priority T-junctions and about 30% less than for signalled junctions. 

The accident severity at three-arm mini-roundabouts is lower than at three-arm signalled junctions and considerably lower than at 30 mph T-junctions. 

The average accident severity of accidents at mini-roundabouts is much lower than at priority junctions or at signalised junctions. 

Cyclists are especially vulnerable at roundabouts, and are over-represented in collisions compared to their traffic volume at all types of junctions. Road accidents involving pedal cyclists are particularly under-reported - only one third of serious accidents and just one fifth of slight accidents involving cyclists are reported to the police. 

Many studies show that there is a higher risk of injury accidents to cyclists at roundabouts compared with other junctions. 

As for pedal cydists, motorcydists are significantly over-represented in acddents at roundabouts and other junctions, compared to their proportion in the traffic flow. 

In simulation we consider simple crossing and a roundabout as a junction of four routes with four point of potential collision (Fig. 4). We assume traffic lanes 1 and 3 are main routes on that there are usually large vessels with less maneuverability. The vessels are observed in lanes entering the roundabout-lane with a distance 4 nautical mile and we assume distances between collision points... 

More than 14 000 accidents occur at roundabouts, including mini-roundabouts (17% of all the junction accidents). 

As part of the proposals, aU traffic signal equipment and other street furniture (e.g. pedestrian guardrail and bollards) was removed, and an open priority system introduced with an informal roundabout gyratory system at the Chester Road junction.
