Roughing units

Guidelines for the treatment of pediatric casualties in a potential homeland defense type of situation have been recently published (Rotenberg andNewmark, 2003). They recommend atropine doses scaled to the weight of the child, with 0.05 mg kg-1 per dose being the rough unit dose 2 mg for 40 kg+ 1 mg for 20 kg+ 0.5 for 10 kg+. They recommend that these doses be given every 5-10 min to a moderate or severe pediatric casualty until atropinization is accomplished. [Pg.299]

P a closed surface orbit of roughly unit mass. It is nearly constant in size over the entire range when the field is in the basal a-b plane ( 9.5 MG) and drops to 6 MG as the field is oriented to the c axis. This surface should be a cylinder of revolution elongated along the c axis (cigar shape). The band calculations find such a surface centered at Z. [Pg.64]

It is apparent from an examination of Table 9.2 that the Mark-Houwink a coefficients fall roughly in the range 0.5-1.0. We conclude this section with some qualitative ideas about the origin of these two limiting values for a. We consider a polymer molecule consisting of n repeat units, and two different representations of its interaction with solvent. [Pg.609]

Rate of Mass Transfer in Bubble Plates. The Murphree vapor efficiency, much like the height of a transfer unit in packed absorbers, characterizes the rate of mass transfer in the equipment. The value of the efficiency depends on a large number of parameters not normally known, and its prediction is therefore difficult and involved. Correlations have led to widely used empirical relationships, which can be used for rough estimates (109,110). The most fundamental approach for tray efficiency estimation, however, summarizing intensive research on this topic, may be found in reference 111. [Pg.42]

Process calculations for traditional unit-operations equipment can be divided into two types design and performance. Sometimes the performance calculation is caHed a simulation (see Simulation and process design). The design calculation is used to roughly size or specify the equipment. EoUowing the... [Pg.525]
