Rosemary oil also causes similar alterations to spike oil, but renders the lavender oil less soluble. [Pg.198]

Rosemary oil of excelleoL quality is also produced in considerable quantity in southern Tunis, notably in the Bled. The Tunisian oil Is Far suiter than Spanish oil, aJlhougb perhaps not quite su fine as the heat French distillates. [Pg.206]

Bornyl Acetate.—The acetic acid ester is the most important of the series. It is a constituent of pine-needle and rosemary oils, and has a most fragrant and refreshing odour. It is prepared artificially by the action of acetic anhydride on borneol, in the presence of sodium acetate, or by the condensation of borneol with glacial acetic acid in the presence of a small amount of a mineral acid. It is absolutely necessary in the reproduction of any pine odour. It is a crystalline body, crystallising from peDroleum ether in rhombic hemihedric crystals melting at 29°. The optical activity depends on that of the borneol from which it has been prepared. It has the following characters —... [Pg.171]

Klein E, RojahnW, (-l-)-Verbenone—A newly discovered component of Spanish rosemary oil, Dragoco Report 14 75—76, 1967. [Pg.180]

Rosemary oil is obtained by steam distillation of the twigs and flowering tops of Rosmarinus officinalis L. (Lamiaceae). It is an almost colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic, refreshing, pleasant odor. [Pg.216]

The main producers of rosemary oil are Tunisia, Morocco and Spain with ca. 150t annually. Rosemary oil is used widely in perfumery and in large amounts for perfuming bath foams, shampoos, and hair tonics. FCT 1974 (12), p.977 [8000-25-7], [84604-14-8]. [Pg.216]

Rosemary oils are derived from one main species with well-documented cultivars that show variations in chemical composition due to the climate they are grown in. [Pg.144]

Rosemary Oil occurs as a colorless or pale yellow liquid with the characteristic odor of rosemary and a warm, camphora-ceous taste. It is the volatile oil obtained by steam distillation from the fresh flowering tops of Rosemarinus officinalis L. (Fam. Labiatae). It is soluble in most vegetable oils, but insoluble in alcohol and in propylene glycol. [Pg.386]

The compositions of distilled and SFE extracted rosemary oils are compered in Table 3. ... [Pg.359]

Examinations of the volatile constituents of the rosemary oils resulted in the conclusion that distilled and SFE product contain the same components. Although the concentrations are different in the products somewhat higher levels of more volatile components (pinene, camphene) were found in the distilled oil. While the concentrations of camphor and verbenon were higher in SFE product. [Pg.360]

Rosmarinus officinalis L. (Rosemary) Rosemary is an exotic or introduced plant in Kenya whose native origin is southern Europe particularly the coastal regions of the Mediterranean Sea. The semi-dried leaves of rosemary grown in Kenya yielded 2.0 % of oil which contained mainly of 1,8-cineole and geranyl acetate (33). Teuscher has reported that the main constituents of rosemary oil... [Pg.502]
