After the explosion during takeoff the following day, Roger said NASA and Morton Thiokol managers tried to distort the truth. He said he and A1 McDonald were relegated to secondary positions, and that he suffered severe mood swings and depression. After he spoke to the Commission of Inquiry in July 1986, he said he was shunned by his colleagues and branded as a whistle-blower, while some people who had supported the launch were still in post.
