Several injectable prolonged release biodegradable microspheres are available as licensed products, e.g. Lupron Depot and Risperdal Consta [18, 19]. The injectable ultrasound contrast agent (Optison ) consists of heat-denaturated albumin microspheres filled with the gas octafluoropropane.
