Right time horizon

The right time horizon. The number one issue for most companies in setting up an S OP process is determining the right time horizon. It should not be confused as a short-term process. It is not a process of days or weeks. Instead, the S OP process is a form of tactical planning. It balances the needs of demand and... [Pg.219]

It is assumed that an unexpected event unveils along the time horizon. If the proactive schedule results infeasible, the right-shifting policy is applied to it. This schedule is compared with the reactive one for the nominal scenario. Both schedules are compared in terms of the proposed evaluation criterion, Eq.(20) excluding operational costs for the sake of simplicity. [Pg.438]

The purpose of a manufacturing planning and control (MPC) system is to meet customer requirements by enabling managers to make the right decisions. The system coordinates information on key source-make-deliver processes to enable material to flow efficiently and effectively. Three time horizons are involved for... [Pg.173]

Enzyme activity is assumed to decay exponentially over the experiment. Fast controller response in both directions can be observed. Compared with the uncontrolled case, the controller controls the product purity and compensates the drift in the enzyme activity. The evolution of the results of the optimization algorithm during each cycle is plotted as a dashed line, shifted by one cycle to the right in order to vitalize the convergence. This shows that a feasible solution is found rapidly and that the controller can be implemented under real-time conditions. In this example, the control horizon was set to two cycles and the prediction horizon was set to ten cycles. A diagonal matrix i j = 0.02 I (3,3) was chosen for regularization. [Pg.411]

It was said above that there was no distinct link between the location of the landslides and the spatial distribution of earthquake epicenters. However, it is possible to use the data on earthquake source mechanisms to describe the stress field, namely to make analysis of the angle between the horizon and the direction of the forces of compression. It is this parameter of earthquake source mechanisms presenting an interest, as it was previously noted that the position of major landslides are possibly controlled by the front line of near-horizontal compression. Figure 4 shows the time-schedule of this parameter according to the data of earthquakes within the cluster D, E and I, which are the closest to the line of major landslides of mountain frame of the Chu hollow. It is clearly seen that for about 6 months before activation of landslides, which are located on the left side of the meridian of 74.9 ", in 2002 and 2006 the stabilization of horizontal compression took place. Landslide activation coincides in time with a sharp deviation of compression forces from the horizon. The same picture is observed for the landslides located to the right of the meridian of 74.9 ", which got active in 2004. Unlike areas D-E, on the area I the horizontal compression persisted longer, almost three years—since the beginning of 2001 until the end of 2003. [Pg.583]

In addition it contains some useful data, such as production batch size (180), lead time (2 months) and stock target (3 months). The columns to the left of the line Today show historical data and to the right is the information for the planning horizon in the future. [Pg.321]
