Reworking techniques

Now you have two possible answer choices, a and e, either of which works with your sentence. That means your sentence is not specific enough and needs to be reworked. One technique that will help you come up with specific sentences is to use active verbs. Notice that the verb in A tooth is part of a mouth is a state-of-being verb, the verb is. An active verb would be more helpful. 

Averaging of Results. The averaging of results can be a useful technique if the samples under study are derived from a uniform and homogeneous source. Averaging passing retest results and OOS results to make a release decision is not scientifically valid [17] however. The procedure is not valid since the OOS investigation will determine that the result it either (1) valid, in which case the product is rejected or reworked, if permitted) or (2) invalid, in which case it will be released on the basis of the retest results alone. 

The production of material of a consistent quality is one of the major goals of development work. Quality problems in a product are identified by the constant monitoring and analysis of the output from the plant, using statistical process control techniques [D-4]. Some of these methods have already been mentioned in Section B, 3.4.2. The avoidance of product quality problems results in direct cost benefits and also brings about a reduction in the environmental impact of its manufacture. This is because material does not need to be reworked, recycled or sent for disposal. A reduction in the number of inferior quality batches of material leads to an increase in output from the plant. More material is produced for the same effort, with the added benefit that it can be consistently supplied to the sales warehouse or be used in consuming processes. 

The technique of Malkowska and Khan, " used as described before to determine the capacity of a direct compression diluent, was originally developed as a method of expressing the ability of a formulation to be reworked. Referring to Fig. 2, the upper curve represents the strength of tablets prepared without reworking and the lower curve is the strength of reworked tablets. The reworking index is calculated from the ratio of the areas under the curves as described previously. 

Process History. The state of the process before any statistical process control existed is shown in Table II. As can be noted, over a period of five months only 44% of the time on an average was actually spent on production and of that about 10% of the product wafers were reworked. Rework required additional material, labor and time and at times, affected the production schedules adversely. Because of this unpredictable nature of the process, an accepted statistical technique was badly needed to establish the process and aid in producing quality product from batch to batch.

Production-rate estimates may also be somewhat low. It is known that macrofaunal reworking of sediments can stimulate microbial activity (Hargrave, 1970,1976 Fenchel, 1970 Aller, 1978 Aller and Yingst, 1978 Yingst and Rhoads, 1980). The lack of macrofaunal grazing and transport effects in the decomposition experiments can be expected to make the rates obtained minima. Overall, however, the similarity between the values obtained by the various methods of flux estimation is evidence that the measurement techniques are reasonably accurate. 

Of various other JIT and TQM-related concepts, poka-yoke merits special attention. In many services, due to the simultaneity of a service s creation and consumption, mistakes are readily apparent to the customer and it is not possible to carry out inspection or rework. Examples of mistakeproofing in service environments range from color coding of patients medical files to techniques for differentiating drinks with similar colors. Further discussion and examples of poka-yoke in services are provided by Schvaneveldt (1993) and Chase and Stewart (1994). 

Isotropically conductive adhesive interconnections can be repaired using techniques similar to those used for solder rework. By application of heat locally at a temperature above the T value, a section of adhesive can be softened and the device can be removed... 

Structures to Facilitate Modular Assembly For many modular approaches and techniques, including microfluidic circuit boards, stacks, or freely joined modules assembled via robotic techniques, alignment keys and mechanical joints may facilitate microassembly, joint strength, or reworkability.
