Reticulonodular opacity

Figure 1 (A) Anteroposterior chest radiograph of a 33-year-old patient with subacute HP showing diffuse ground-glass attenuation. (B) Bird-related chronic HP. Chest radiograph shows shortening of the lung fields, diffuse reticulonodular opacities, and signs of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Abbreviation HP, hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Chest radiography generally reveals bilateral, fine reticular, or reticulonodular opacities in over two-thirds of patients but may appear normal in up to 20% of patients with RB-ILD (7,8). Bronchial wall thickening, described by some authors as a relatively common radiographic feature, can be difficult to appreciate (12). In some patients, ground-glass opacities may be the predominant abnormality on chest radiography (8). [Pg.380]

Young et al. 1989). Manifestations of PTLD may be focal or disseminated (Knollmann et al. 2000a). Organs as diverse as the brain, lung, heart, liver, kidneys, spleen, GI tract, and lymph nodes may be involved (Haldas et al. 2002 Knollmann et al. 2000a). Thoracic manifestations include pulmonary nodules, reticulonodular opacities, and masses. Associated adenopathy may or may not be... [Pg.47]

The chest radiograph in patients with CMV pneumonia may be normal or show ground glass opacities or reticulonodular opacities. HRCT is more sen-... [Pg.147]

Classical chest radiograph manifestations of CBD include bilateral middle to upper lobe predominant reticulonodular infiltrate, with or without mild hilar/ mediastinal lymphadenopathy. (Fig. 1). The interstitial opacities are typically characterized as small p or q in the International Labour Organization (ILO)... [Pg.299]

Traditionally, chest radiographic features of diffuse interstitial fibrosis have been regarded as crucial for the diagnosis of asbestosis (American Thoracic Society 1986 Weill 1987). Characteristically, a bilateral basal reticulonodular pattern is seen (Parkes 1994). Small irregular opacities, which may differ in size, are seen in early disease and are denoted by the symbols s, t and u of the International Labour Office (ILO) classification (International Labour Office 2002) (Fig. 7.1a,b), although mixed irregular and rounded opacities are sometimes... [Pg.208]

During the subacute phase, chest radiography most often shows a nodular or reticulonodular pattern (Fig. 13.2). The most frequent abnormalities are poorly defined small nodules (Fig. 13.3) and ground-glass opacities (Fig. 13.4). These small nodules reflect granulomas, cellular bronchiolitis, alveolitis and interstitial infiltrates. The abnormalities are most severe in the peribronchiolar areas. Even mild degrees of pulmonary involvement may cause severe... [Pg.288]
