Results and Challenges

Through product stewardship, DuPont differentiates itself in the marketplace by providing opportunities for customers to reduce their footprints. It helps customers [Pg.400]

For DuPont, the business case of sustainability lies in it being a growth engine. Sustainability is the driver of innovations, both technical and in delivery to the market. Finding solutions to global societal needs, such as access to clean energy, safe food, shelter, and information, presents new business opportunities for DuPont and the industry. [Pg.401]

The following are exercises that have been used with honors students and that seem to be both interesting and challenging. In many cases only the rudimentary coded solution is given. From this one can build much more sophisticated code and in many cases create Module functions that can be used repeatedly with different parameter values. Note that all of these separate problems were run as if the Kernel had to be restarted with each computation. Running sequentially without adding statements to clear variables will result in absurd output. [Pg.459]

Proof that the new approaches work under normal classroom conditions gives moral support to teachers and challenges them to change their own perceptions of teaching, learning and the curriculum. The results of the evaluation of formal trials of new materials and approaches about the triplet relationship should be made available to the teachers. One effective way to do so is to organise matters such that teachers who made trial use of the materials share their experiences with others (Ferk Savec et al., 2008). [Pg.342]

A challenging goal in this field, particularly from the synthetic point of view, is the development of general AB polymerization methods that achieve control over DB and narrow MWDs. Experimental results and theoretical studies mentioned above suggest that the SCV(C)P from surfaces, which are functionahzed with monolayers of initiators, permit a controlled polymerization, resulting structural characteristics (molecular weight averages, DB) of hyperbranched polymers. In particular, it is expected that the use of polyfunctional initiators with a different number of initiator functionahty, copolymerization, and slow monomer addition techniques lead to control the molecular parameters. [Pg.33]

U.S. EPA promulgated MACT standards for most HWCs on September 30, 1999. These emission standards created a technology-based national cap for HAP emission from the combustion of hazardous waste in these devices. A number of parties, representing both industrial and environmental communities, requested judicial review of this rule, and challenged its emission standards and several implementation provisions. On July 24,2001, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit vacated the emission standards however, it allowed EPA to promulgate interim standards that were in place since February 13, 2002. U.S. EPA issued the new Final Rule and standards on April 20, 2004. Today s standards30 31 shown in Tables 23.5 and 23.6 result from the above judiciary and regulatory actions. [Pg.979]

Part of this symposium was directed to the synthesis, properties and applications of inorganic and organometallic macromolecules with network structures. The section on organo-oxo macromolecules relevant to sol-gel processing addresses the interesting synthesis and challenging characterization efforts in this area. Brinker (p. 314) outlines the complex chemical and physical factors which affect network formation and structure resulting from the hydrolysis of a tetraalkoxysilane. [Pg.4]
