Required representations

Each pair has an anti-commutator, cr, cr = OjOk + OkOj = 2 jk- Based on this the required representation of the Bi matrices follows immediately as... [Pg.239]

The need for multivariate techniques is apparent when one considers that each measured parameter contributes one dimension to the representation. Thus examining two parameter interactions requires a two dimensional plot. Such graphical representations are effective in identifying significant relationships among the variables. A three variable system requires a three dimensional plot to simultaneously represent all potential bivariate interactions. However, as the number of variables increases the dimensionality of the required representation exceeds man s ability to perceive significant patterns in the data. Indeed, humans do not conceptualize comfortably beyond three dimensions. Without assistance one would be restricted to considering only problems that are characterized by three factors. [Pg.17]

On using eqs. (16.6.9) and (16.6.10) the matrices of the required representations found in (viii) give the elements Tk of the supermatrix as in step (vi) of Section 16.6, and these matrices, when multiplied by Tk(C t), are the space-group representations. [Pg.345]

Comment The required representations are also referred to in the literature as permitted or allowed representations. [Pg.345]

For simplicity, the concept of hybridization may be used to describe the overlap of these orbitals. However, such a scheme requires representation of a band without structural features (as shown in Fig. 48c) being drawn at the same height as the orbital energy levels on the energy level diagram. [Pg.128]

In valence bond terms, the isonitrile (isocyanide) group requires representation as two resonance structures (140a) and (140b), but physical properties indicate that the dipolar contribution (140a) is the major one. The isonitrile structure involves divalent carbon, a property shared only with carbon monoxide and fulminates (R—O—NC) as isolable entities. Since the latter are notoriously reactive materials, this singles out the isonitriles as the only stable family of organic compounds which are formally divalent. [Pg.293]

Erom the top to the bottom of the template hierarchy the scope and the content of the respective templates increase considerably, e.g., from simple geometry to complex system representations. Furthermore also the complexity of the creation of the template and the required representation mechanisms increases rapidly for the template creator. One important challenge for end-user acceptance and to master the increasing and challenging template contents is to package the complexity for the end user in an easy-to use black box or grey box with defined interfaces to the other CAD elements at template instantiation. [Pg.268]

Impedance behavior, corresponding to anomalous capacitance dispersion requiring representation by a CPE, has been examined with respect to a specific form of irregularity or roughness, namely a surface having fractal, that is self-similar geometry on various scales, and was treated by Mulder el al. [1990] and by Pajkossy [1991]. [Pg.494]

System Functions, Examination of technical systems requires representation of logic structures by means of mathematical functions. The following is a description of its basic principles. [Pg.50]

Most large-scale shape features of macromolecules such as proteins require representations which ignore some of the details. Topical among such models are the motifs of an a-helix or a -sheet of a protein. ... [Pg.2584]
