Required genes

Some genetic diseases are quite complex, with several organs/cell types being affected. In most instances, it has proven difficult in practice to introduce the required gene into all the affected cell types.

Several companies have developed technologies to use plants for the production of animal proteins. Tobacco and maize are the favored crops. Expression cassettes with the required gene(s) and an associated marker are inserted and screened plants...

E. coli CysQ protein. The EcCysQ gene was first identified as a required gene in cysteine biosynthesis (Neuwald et ah, 1992). Since PAP is an intermediate in assimilation of sulfate during cysteine biosynthesis, it has been speculated that the CysQ protein breaks down PAP to prevent toxic amounts from accumulating in the cell (Neuwald et ah, 1992). 

DNA (section 2.4.1) than eukaryotic RNA (section 2.4.2). The result will be the construction of a collection of cloned DNA fragments propagated in bacteria that is called the genomic library. This library should contain representatives of every sequence in the chromosome of a prokaryotic cell and every expressed gene in the case of a eukaryotic cell. The final step consists of the screening of every recombinant clone to identify the required gene(s). 

The CONREAL web server forwards gene query terms to the Ensembl server (http //www.ensembl.org) and thus depends on annotation terms and descriptions that are present in this database. When exact search terms are not found or when the desired results are not returned, try to identify the Ensembl ID of the required genes by a more general search directly on the Ensembl web server or another genome database of choice, and use this Ensembl gene ID in the query field on the CONREAL server. 

For some reason, which is presently not understood, it has not been possible for most bacteria to develop means of overcoming the effects of these antibiotics thus, resistance to vancomycin and teicoplanin has been, until recently, quite rare. This appears to be due to the fact that as many as nine genes are required to overcome the effects of vancomycin. Two of the required genes... 

In E. coli the proteins that participate in mismatch repair include the products of genes mutH, mutL, and mutS. Another required gene product has been identified as DNA helicase II. The E. coli single-stranded binding protein also appears to be involved.
