The overall project itself requires formally structured planning and control in addition to the validation plans for the computerized operation. To provide this, a project and quality plan from the pharmaceutical manufacturer (or its nominated main contractor) is normally developed as a separate and complimentary document and needs to overview all activities, resources, standards, and procedures required for the project. The plan should define project-execution procedures, quality management procedures, engineering standards, project program, and project organization (with authorities and reporting responsibilities), and reference the project validation plan. Cnrriculnm Vitaes (CVs) for permanent staff are nsually kept by the Human Resources Department. This is not necessarily the case for contractors, consultants, and temporary staff. Their CVs, typically retained by the responsible manager, can be easily lost when individnals move on to new contracts. One way to systematically capmre such training records for contractors, consultants, and temporary staff is to attach them as appendices to Validation Plans or Vahdation Reports.

Upon completion of the audit, the auditors should provide the contractor with a report citing any problems which they have identified with the contractor s operation that might interfere with the contractor being able to successfully work on their company s project. The contractor should respond in writing to the audit report and address how they will handle each observation. Based on the results of their audit and the responses of the contractor, the audit team can then make a recommendation to the responsible personnel within their organization as to the acceptability of the contractor.

The Canadian fabricator, packager/labeller, distributor or importer obtains copies of inspection reports of the health authority responsible for the inspection of the contractor. A written evaluation of the report is made by the fabricator, packager/labeller, distributor or importer, stating that from a review by a technically qualified person, the contractor is in conformance or non-conformance with the GMP Division of the Regulations.
