The use of wind as a renewable energy source involves the conversion of power contained in moving air masses to rotating shaft power. These air masses represent the complex circulation of winds near the surface of Earth caused by Earth s rotation and by convective heating from the sun. The actual conversion process utilizes basic aerodynamic forces, ie, lift or drag, to produce a net positive torque on a rotating shaft, resulting in the production of mechanical power, which can then be used directly or converted to electrical power. [Pg.232]

Most important, reliable and no-regrettable measures are two move to renewable energies and energy saving/conservation. The concept of renewable energy is shown in Fig. 2. The trials of developments of new route to solar energies, for example production of polycrystalline silicon is important [9, 10]. The conversion of waste oil to fiiel has also been investigated [11]. The study on coal conversion is also developed to the biomass conversion study. [Pg.116]

These new experimental approaches gave renewed motivation to the study of classical organic electrode reactions for direct electrochemical energy conversion. The present contribution intends to give a survey of the recent progress in the study of methanol oxidation attained by application of the above mentioned techniques. [Pg.128]

The hydrogenase may be electrically wired with different semiconductors, metals and conducting materials as an electrode. This property of the enzyme is successfully used in design of different biomolecular device for renewable energy production and conversion systems based on molecular hydrogen as intermediate energy carrier.
