ReliOn has made great progress in recent years over the early T-series fuel cell systems, and the company currently focuses on the E-series products. Table 5.4 compares the major specifications of the early T-2000 system with the recent E-2500 system. It is clear that the E-series system is lighter and more compact, has higher system efficiency and H2 utilization, a wider operational ambient temperature range, and offers a lot more communications means over the T-series system.

ReliOn of the United States is one of the first fuel cell companies to commercialize its product. The I-IOOO is a IkW backup PEM fuel cell power system that runs on compressed hydrogen. ReliOn currently has more than 550 kW of its technology installed globally. Their hot-swappable Modular Cartridge Technology allows for increased reliability, ease of maintenance, and most importantly, scalability, which increases commercial potential (ReliOn 2006).
