Development, piloting and broad adoption of the Higg Index, a tool for measuring the environmental and social performance of apparel products. 

The focus of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition is to create and implement an index to measme the environmental and social performance of apparel and footwear products. 

With the creation of an apparel and footwear index, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition aims to accomplish the following goals

Propylene-Based Routes. The strong acid-catalyzed carbonylation of propylene [115-07-1] to isobutyric acid (Koch reaction) followed by oxidative dehydration to methacrylic acid has been extensively studied since the 1960s. The principal side reaction in the Koch reaction is the formation of oligomers of propylene. Increasing yields of methacrylic acid in the oxydehydration step is the current focus of research. Isobutyric acid may also be obtained via the oxidation of isobutyraldehyde, which is available from the hydroformylation of propylene. The -butyraldehyde isomer that is formed in the hydroformylation must be separated. 

Practical applications of SR-TXRF currently focus on fast mapping of wafers up to a diameter of 300 mm and reference measurement capabilities in the range of 10 -10 atoms cm [4.58]... 

The GRI provides a useful framework for sustainability reporting and continues to evolve. While the GRI currently focuses on a broad set of sustainability metrics, it could be adapted to include green chemistry metrics. 

Examples of commercially applied solid base catalysts are much fewer than for solid acids. Nevertheless, much attention is currently focused on the development of novel solid base catalysts for classical organic reactions such as aldol condensations, Michael additions, and Knoevenagel condensations, to name but a few. 

Although, these capabilities can be directed to multiple products to target different markets (chemicals, agriculture, protein pharmaceuticals, and prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines) their activities are currently focused to the Health Sector. Within these markets, they are focused on specific high-value opportunities. 

The first step in such a plan is education. Training in the field of oceanography needs to place greater emphasis on analytical quality control, particularly with respect to accuracy to complement the current focus on precision. For those already established in the field (and perhaps entrenched in their ways), national and international meetings should incorporate training courses and workshops.

Research is currently focusing on ways to lower the hydraulic conductivity of engineered biofihns to make them an effective barrier to contaminant transport this includes the introduction of ultramicrobacteria (UMB) to penetrate the soil matrix. 

Chapter 1 was an overview of this field. In this chapter, I wish to discuss the current focus of work on surfactant mixtures. I will also try to outline the areas in which 1 believe research is needed in surfactant mixture behavior. As a result, this will be a highly opinionated, speculative, and personal chapter. If some of the discussion stimulates creative thought in other researchers, whether they agree with me or not, a goal of this chapter will have been achieved.
