Cardiovascular risk increasing evidence is surfacing that NSAID use, but particularly the use of COX-2 selective NSAIDS, elevates the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This is especially true in patients with preexisting cardiovascular disease. Thrombotic cardiovascular events are related to a relative increase in thromboxane and a relative diminution in prostacycline. Since most selective as well as nonselec-tive NSAIDS affect this relative imbalance of thromboxane over prostacycline they are all implicated in increasing the risk for thrombotic cardiovascular events [6]. However, naproxen appears to be risk-neutral with regard to cardiovascular events and may in fact be somewhat cardioprotective due to its nonselectivity [7j. [Pg.224]

These combinations are possible without too detailed design of the combined jet and exhaust, since the wide jet itself will act as a separator between inside and outside and the consequences of an imbalance of supply and exhaust airflow are small. The relative mixing of outside and inside air into the jet is less than for a thin air jet, which also makes it easier to design fan(s) and ducts. The high velocity needed requires a high airflow rate and, with heating, can be expensive to operate. [Pg.1009]

Even when parts are precision balanced to extremely close tolerances, vibration due to mechanical imbalance can be much greater than necessary due to assembly errors. Potential errors include relative placement of each part s center of rotation, location of the shaft relative to the bore, and cocked rotors. [Pg.936]

Assembly errors are not simply the additive effects of tolerances, but also include the relative placement of each part s center of rotation. For example, a perfectly balanced blower rotor can be assembled to a perfectly balanced shaft and yet the resultant imbalance can be high. This can happen if the rotor is balanced on a balancing shaft that fits the rotor bore within 0.5 mil (0.5 thousandths of an inch) and then is mounted on a standard cold-rolled steel shaft allowing a clearance of over 2 mils. [Pg.936]

Imbalance often results with rotors that do not incorporate setscrews to locate the shaft relative to the bore (e.g., rotors that are end clamped). In this case, the balancing shaft is usually horizontal. When the operator slides the rotor on the shaft, gravity causes the rotor s bore to make contact at the 12 o clock position on the top surface of the shaft. In this position, the rotor is end-clamped in place and then balanced. [Pg.936]

Different types of antidepressants are supposed to affect different neurotransmitters.
