Refinery Outlook

As for other recyclable heterogeneous catalysts, zeolites and related materials can also contribute to the development of environmentally friendly processes in the synthesis of bulk and fine chemicals. The concept of a biomass refinery, capable of separating, modifying and exploiting the numerous constituents of renewable resources, is gaining worldwide acceptance today with a very broad outlook. This chapter has attempted to show that this particular area of carbohydrate chemistry is in itself very rich, both in already acquired knowledge and potential future developments. [Pg.154]

Figure 3 shows the crude runs necessary to meet our refined product demand forecast. The forecast includes two scenarios one of normal trendline growth portrayed by several industry observers and Pacefs own outlook for refinery crude runs based on a "cyclical11 economic forecasting model. Our forecast shows runs to crude stills will remain below 12.5 million barrels per day for the remainder of the decade. [Pg.154]

Review team members or consultants retained to support a review should be chosen that are intimately familiar with the hydrocarbon or chemical processes under examination. For example a crude separation operator should not be chosen to support a review of a refinery gas plant, however he could serve as a reviewer for another crude separation unit. The typical review team should also have a balanced number of individuals from different organizations such as company employees, consultants, equipment fabricators, etc. Hopefully one group s self interest should not be able to outweigh and unduly sway the entire groups outlook. [Pg.9]
