Manganese ratios

Equations 17—20 result from contact between hot metal and slag, and the sulfur and carbon come dissolved in the hot metal. Likewise, the manganese, siUcon, and phosphoms which are produced are dissolved into the hot metal. The heats of solution for these elements in some cases depend on concentration, and are not included in the heats of reaction Hsted above. The ratio of the concentration of the oxide (or element for sulfur) in the slag to the concentration of the element in the hot metal is the partition ratio, and is primarily a function of slag chemistry and temperature. [Pg.417]

The laterites can be divided into three general classifications (/) iron nickeliferrous limonite which contains approximately 0.8—1.5 wt % nickel. The nickel to cobalt ratios for these ores are typically 10 1 (2) high siUcon serpentinous ores that contain more than 1.5 wt % nickel and (J) a transition ore between type 1 and type 2 containing about 0.7—0.2 wt % nickel and a nickel to cobalt ratio of approximately 50 1. Laterites found in the United States (8) contain 0.5—1.2 wt % nickel and the nickel occurs as the mineral goethite. Cobalt occurs in the lateritic ore with manganese oxide at an estimated wt % of 0.06 to 0.25 (9). [Pg.370]

The relation between free phosphoric acid content and total phosphate content in a processing bath, whether based on iron, manganese or zinc, is very important this relation is generally referred to as the acid ratio. An excess of free acid will retard the dissociation of the primary and secondary phosphates and hinder the deposition of the tertiary phosphate coating sometimes excessive loss of metal takes place and the coating is loose and powdery. When the free acid content is too low, dissociation of phosphates (equations 15.2, 15.3 and 15.4) takes place in the solution as well as at the metal/solution interface and leads to precipitation of insoluble phosphates as sludge. The free acid content is usually determined by titrating with sodium... [Pg.707]

Mention has been made of the necessity for controlling the acid ratio of phosphating baths, particularly those of iron, manganese and zinc operating... [Pg.714]

Use Figure 17-11 to estimate the resistivities of two metal samples, one made of pure copper and the other of a copper-manganese alloy containing one atom of manganese for every one hundred copper atoms. Calculate the ratio of the cost due to power loss from wire of the impure material to the cost due to the power loss from wire of the pure material. [Pg.311]

The primary manganese dioxide-Zn battery industry still controls the small-battery market. The ratio between batteries and rechargeable batteries is still about 10 1, and although the global battery market will nearly double by the year 2001, this ratio will stay practically the same, because the primary market is estimated to grow by 70 percent (actually stealing only 2-3 percent from the primary market). [Pg.81]

If Li[Mn2]04 is heated above -780 °C, oxygen-deficient spinels LiMn204 (S <0.14) are produced [132, 144, 145]. The loss of oxygen lowers the manganese oxidation state below 3.5 and triggers a mild Jahn-Teller distortion the da ratio in the tetragonal LiMn204 (7 phase varies between 1.02 and 1.07. [Pg.313]

Within group (i), square-planar EtPt(CO)(AsPh3)Cl inserts more rapidly than six-coordinate EtIr(CO)2(AsPh3)Cl2. In THE at 40°C, the relative k s are 9 and 1. Comparison of group (ii) alkyl carbonyls reveals the order MeMn(CO)5 > CpMo(CO)3Me > CpFe(CO)2Me. The ratios of the k s are 23 I and 100 1, respectively, in THF at 25° and 50.7°C. The higher reactivity of manganese than of molybdenum is a consequence of the relative entropies, whereas the lowest reactivity of iron is caused by its Jff (Table III). [Pg.103]

The total production of gold, silver and other associated base metals and silver/ gold production ratios from these deposits are summarized in Table 1.17. In addition to gold and silver, lead, zinc and manganese have been produced from some of the Se-type (e.g., Yatani) and copper has been produced from some of the Te-type (e.g., Teine, Kawazu). Total tonnage of production of Au and Ag from the Se-type is greater than... [Pg.160]
