Rail road Commission

I am commissioned by the Army Coimcil to request that you will institute inquiries to ascertain the locality of any caves, unused tunnels and mines within your Command, which could be utilised for the underground storage of ammunition and explosives, and furnish a repon giving information regarding present use, area, depth, approach by road or rail, atmospheric conditions and such other points as you may wish to emphasise. ... 

When the view of the interministerial commission for transporting hazardous materials (CITMD) was adopted in December 1998, it was decided to adopt the same mles for transporting hazardous materials in France, whether national or international (J.O., 1999). These new conditions apply to road, rail, and domestic transport. French regulations, therefore, comply with international road (ADR), rail (RID), and waterway (ADNR) regulations.

Commercial chlorine is transported as a liquid, either in small containers (cylinders and drums) or in bulk (road and rail tankers, barges, and ISO containers). The design, construction, system of labeling, inspection, and commissioning are covered by national and international regulations [228]. Cylinders have a chlorine content up to 70 kg. A protective hood is provided to cover the valve during transport. The ton containers (drums) have a capacity of 500 - 3000 kg of chlorine. Drums are equipped with two valves near the center of one end and connected with internal eductor pipes. 

The European Commission, DG MOVE and RTD, the Conference of European Road Directors (CEDR), the European Road Transport Research Advisory Coimcil (ERTRAC), the European Rail Research Advisory Coimcil (ERRAC) the European technology platform WATERBORNE-TP are acknowledged for their support and active contribution to the Programme Committee of the TRA2014, in charge of reviewing and selecting the papers presented at the conference, which forms the main input of this volume. 

Before commissioning the reaction system, any intennediatc and finished product tanks must have been checked in a similar way as for raw materials — see Appendix 7. Additional items to check are the transfer systems between tanks and road/rail tankers.
