Joseph L. Cavinato represents the Center for Strategic Supply Leadership at the Institute for Supply Management (formally the National Association of Purchasing Management) and teaches SCM (supply chain management) courses at Arizona State University. Based on two years of research by his organization completed in late 2001, Cavinato identihed no fewer than 16 variations of supply chain. He refers to the 16 as a spectrum of supply chain types. His work illustrates that different industry environments create their own supply chain types. 

This observation is however not restricted to supposedly conservative factory owners, who at best fear liability problems or financial risks. It applies to workers and technicians alike, to purchasing department and management, to associations and scientific branch institutes as well as to sub-contractors of machinery, components and anxiliary eqnipment, in which the chemicals are nsed. This conservative stance applies not only with regard to enviromnent and health-related iimovation, bnt also to innovation in general and it is amplified (and also repeatedly npset) by the stress of globalisation and social uncertainty.

Communication between an agent container and the Platform Manager is authenticated due to the fact that only the owner of the container, whose identity was verified and who received the shared key upon service purchase, can create encrypted request to Platform Manager. And Platform Manager looks up the shared key in its data storage where the key is associated to container s unique identifier... 

Costs are also associated with managing inventory. The obvious cost is the purchase price, also called the acquisition cost. It also costs money to procure and carry a product. Procurement costs, such as shipping and handling, can vary depending on the product. Similarly, carrying costs vary depending on the product and include overhead costs such as electricity and heating. 

Non-steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). In some cases, a patient may unknowingly be taking several different products that contain the same NSAID. An arthritic patient whose condition has been managed with ibuprofen obtained via prescription (often at dosage levels at or near the recommended maximum) may purchase a non-prescription ibuprofen product for pain/discomfort not associated with the arthritis. The patient may not know that the two products contain the same drug and that there is an increased risk of adverse effects. 

Occasionally special tests may be required. These may be due to the need to operate the unit in an unusual mode or to test special control systems that may involve associated equipment such as a power management system or a control panel. Special tests may be needed to verify the operation of protective devices in the equipment rather than the equipment itself, but which require the device to be in its fully functional position on its host equipment. The owner or the purchaser usually witnesses performance and special tests.
