Finally, it is of vital importance to analyse the shape and duration of single pulse profiles and this requires a streak camera. Comparative pulse diagnostics studies on our laser oscillator amplifier system have been reported in detail elsewhere (22) and illustrate the need to maintain excellent cavity control (to within y precision) to generate single laser pulses, rather than multiple pulse bursts, whose presence is often masked in the broadened wings n ensemble correlation function... [Pg.341]

The overall conceptual layout of the pulsed dye laser LGS system is shown in Fig. 18. A thermally insulated room located on the dome floor houses much of the laser system to minimize vibrations on the telescope and the heat dissipated within the dome. The enclosure houses 6 frequency-doubled Nd YAG pump lasers, the DM0, the associated laser electronics and diagnostics, the... [Pg.233]

CV has become a standard technique in all fields of chemistry as a means of studying redox states. The method enables a wide potential range to be rapidly scanned for reducible or oxidizable species. This capability, together with its variable time scale and good sensitivity, makes CV the most versatile electroanalytical technique thus far developed. It must, however, be emphasized that its merits are largely in the realm of qualitative or diagnostic experiments. Quantitative measurements (of rates or concentrations) are best obtained via other means (e.g., step, pulse, or hydrodynamic techniques). Because of the kinetic control of many CV experiments, some caution is advisable when evaluating the results in terms of thermodynamic parameters (e.g., measurement of E° for irreversible couples). [Pg.93]
