Pulling load

The CLEM operator controls all machine operations from the control console in the cab mounted on the transporter trolley. The control of CLEM is semiautomatic that is, operations are performed automatically after the operator initiates a command. Interlocks to control the machine s operations have been incorporated into the design to meet safety requirements. Manual overrides are also provided to permit the operator to take control if necessary. The grapple speed and push-pull load requirements in handling fuel are controlled through all modes of operation. Indexing of the CLEM to a refueling station is accomplished by manually operated controls. 

The apparent damage on one side (north side) of the tested columns by Fahmy and Wu (2012) under the effect of pull loadings is shown in Fig. 14.10. The observed damage at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0% drifts was compared among the models. Cracks shown in grey were developed at the achieved level of lateral drift, but cracks in black appeared at the previous loading cycles.

Pulltrusion processing is common in metals and polymer composites. The extrusion process used in this laboratory has a possibility of extruding the polymer under a combined push force and pull load by attaching weights to the emerging extrudate. The effect of pull load on the extrusion of Alathon 7050 split billets has been studied (11). Figure 7 shows the marked increase in extrusion rate produced by adding a pull load to the extrudate. The effects of push force and pull force on extrusion rate are found to be superimposable. 

Addition of the pull load increases the extrusion rate until fracture occurs in the die marked on the graph. The polymer is a split billet of Alathon 7050, extrusion draw ratio 36, temperature...
