The media access layer protocol elements of ethernet form data packets for transmission over the shared media according to a standardized format. This ethernet packet format is nearly equivalent to the IEEE 802.3 standard, and the two terms are often used interchangeably.

IMES was developed to assist in the selection and evaluation of exposure assessment models and to provide model validation and uncertainty information on various models and their applications. There are many protocols and different types of platforms available, e.g. GeneChips from Affymetrix, Illumina Bead Arrays, Arrays from Agilent, Applied Biosystems, GE Healthcare, customized spotted cDNA microarrays etc. the basic procedure for a large-scale measurement of gene expression involves the preparation of total or mRNA from the biological sample(s) under investigation (e.g. candidate tissue) and the hybridization of copied labelled RNA or cDNA to the DNA elements on the array surface (Fig. 1). 

But reliable, portable monitoring devices are only one element in the equation. The second is the network across which the data they collect can be sent—and here two new technologies are particularly relevant third-generation (3G) mobile telephony and a wireless network protocol known formally as 802.11 and colloquially as Wi-Fi. 

There are a number of CRMs available for this group of elements in semm and urine (see Table 6.3). The most severe problems with the determination of these trace elements are contamination and loss. Therefore, strict protocols are necessary to prevent these problems. Contamination can be prevented by cleaning thoroughly all used utensils, and the use of highly purified chemicals. Loss is mostly due to exchange between the container walls and can be prevented by working at a pFI<2.
