The overhead of the depropanizer is sent to the propylene fractionator. The methylacetylene (MA) and propadiene (PD) are usually hydrogenated before entering the tower. An MAPD converter is similar to an acetylene converter, but operates at a lower temperature and in the Hquid phase. Due to recent advances in catalysis, the hydrogenation is performed at low temperatures (50—90°C) in trickle bed reactors (69). Ordy rarely are methylacetylene and propadiene recovered. [Pg.441]

The propylene fractionator operates at a pressure of 1.8 to 2.0 MPa with more than 160 trays required for a high purity propylene product. Often a two-tower design is employed when polymer grade (99.5%+) is required. A pasteurization section may also be used when high purity is required. The bottoms product contains mainly propane that can be recycled to the cracking heaters or used as fuel. Typical tower dimensions and internals for a 450,000 t/yr ethylene plant with naphtha feed are summarized in Table 7. [Pg.441]

A comparison between the radical yields generated by radiation in polyethylene, polypropylene and ethylene-propylene copolymers emphasizes the contribution of tertiary carbons to the scission process. At 77 K, G(radicals) = 2.2 - 2.3 for EPR consisting of propylene fractions between 0.23 and 0.36 that places this kind of elastomers closed to polypropylene. In addition, G(H2) and G(CH4) are 2.6 - 1.8 events/100 eV and 0.08 - 0.1 events/100 eV, respectively for these ethylene-propylene copolymers indicating a large chance of scission on methyl sides in the propylene units [9201]. [Pg.198]

Fire resulted from a rupture in an offline reboiler (which is a specific type of heat exchanger) that was in standby mode and located in the propylene fractionator area of the plant, adjacent to the in-service reboiler. The heat input system of the in-service reboiler was undergoing regular evaluation and analysis work at the time of the incident. Investigation ongoing. [Pg.120]

The method used in the production of this detergent is as follows taking a propane-propylene fraction, the propylene in it is submitted to polymerization with a phosphoric acid catalyst. The dodecylene fraction thus produced... [Pg.61]

We will take an output of the propane-propylene fraction gi = 100 tons/day (consisting of 60 per cent of propylene and 40 per cent of propane) and a benzene output gao = 100 tons/day. [Pg.62]
