Production line bonding procedures

This section starts with the chapter Quality Control of Raw Materials by Wakabayashi. The main components of adhesives are first described and then quality control procedures are discussed such as chemistry, impurity content, molecular weight, viscosity, density, and quality control of raw materials in storage. Next, in the chapter Processing Quality Control by Haraga, the processing quality control of adhesively bonded joints in actual production lines is discussed. Topics such as control of environmental conditions and materials, inspection of surface treatment of adherends, adhesive selection for easy process control, and... 

The author believes that even those claims for packed columns may prove to be illusory on rigorous examination, and suspects that other procedures, especially silver ion HPLC, will ultimately prove to be more reliable. On the other hand, it is probably true to say that there is no method currently available that can be recommended with complete confidence. The best GC method for the determination of the relative proportions of the total cis- and trans-isomers of monoenoic esters involves epoxidation of the double bond followed by analysis of the products, trans-eluting ahead of the corresponding c/s-isomers [243,244,514]. (A suitabie procedure for the reaction is described in Chapter 4). individuai positional isomers are not resoived, but near base-line resolution of the configurationai isomers is possible, especially with WCOT columns.
