Problem solving, hindrances

Don t try to bend all problems into a mindless "proportion" approach that you may have mastered in elementary grades. There are many kinds of proportion, not just one. Problem solving based on proportions appeals to intuition, not logic. Its use is a hindrance to intellectual progress in science.

Finally, in the last Chap. E the more complex reactions are treated which are observed in free-radical polymerization and in vulcanization of chains. In the course of branching the experimentalist is often confronted with inhomogeneities in branching and chain flexibility and with chemical heterogeneity and steric hindrance due to an overcrowding of segments in space. Some of these problems of great practical importance have been solved in the past and are briefly reported. 

Antibody microarrays are the most common target microarrays. Target microarrays consist of different proteins printed onto planar-solid surfaces (7,8). In general, these arrays have found several applications in clinical studies because they allow identification of specific protein profiles. One of the major drawbacks of antibody microarrays is the need for oriented immobilization of the capture reagent onto the surface in order to avoid steric hindrance with the specific proteins presented in the sample. Therefore, to solve this problem, several strategies have been described that implied that chemical groups promote orientation and avoid cross-linkers that can interact nonspecifically with the query protein. Another important disadvantage is the loss of activity of proteins upon immobilization (9—11). 

Although activated carbon is a natural for water purification, the development of this application was not without many problems. That they were solved so rapidly and effectively can be credited to the cooperative spirit prevailing in an industry in which ideas and know-how are exchanged without let or hindrance. 

Zeolite membranes are promising for the development of a reactor because they are characterized by efficient thermal resistance, an inherent catalytic activity, and a complex microporous structure, which guarantees high-specific surface. This is a very captivating property because it partially solves the problem of low surface that is typical of most common commercial membranes. The potential of this kind of material does not stop here they are also able to distinguish between species with similar molecular weight, and this is possible because their channels remain accessible only for species with acceptable steiic hindrance.
