Select the display that you prefer to use. For most traces shown in this text, we will show the Probe window in full screen. Note also that your probe screen will have a black background. To make the screen captures more readable, the background color of the probe screen has been changed to white for the remainder of this book. This was accomplished by modifying the [PROBE DISPLAY COLORS] section of the pspipce.ini file located in the OrcadLite/PSpice directory.

To switch between windows, we can use two methods. All of my screen captures shown recently show the Probe window occupying the entire window. In this mode we use the menus to switch between windows. Probe draws a plot of the traces used in the goal function (dy/VO)) and V(VO) in this example), labels the locations of the points used in the goal function (Pi and P2 in this example), and then displays the value of the goal function. The value of Vqh is 4.5868 volts. Select Window and then New to obtain a new Probe window ... 

Suppose we wanted to show the values of VIL) VIH, V0L, and V0H on the Probe screen. This can be done using the cursors. Rrst, select Window from the menus and then select the first plot we generated to display a trace of V(Vo) by itself on the Probe window ...

A second method can be used to find the upper 3 dB frequency found in the previous section. We will continue from the end of the previous section. First, hide the cursors by selecting Trace, Cursor, and then Display from the Probe menus. Next, select Window and then New Window to open a new Probe window ... 

Run the PSpice simulation Select PSpice and then Run from the Capture menu bar. When the simulation is complete, the Probe window will open. Add the trace DB(V(VO) ) to plot the gain in decibels. Use the cursors to label the mid-band gain, and upper and lower -3 dB frequencies. Your cursor values may be slightly different than those shown here.

The plot shows four Bode plots, one for each value of RF V3l. We see that for larger gains the bandwidth is reduced. This example will be continued in the next section (Section 5.G), which starts with the screen capture above. You may wish to keep the Probe window above open so that you can easily continue with the next section. 

To run the simulation, select PSpice and then Run from the Capture menu bar. When Probe runs, add the trace I (LI). To add a trace select Trace and then Add Trace from the Probe menu bar or press the INSERT key. You will see the following Probe window ... 

Run the simulation and plot the sine wave and square wave on separate plots. To add plots to the Probe window, select Plot and then Add Plot to Window from the Probe menus.
