Printing roll cover

Very high ACN (> 42%) containing NBRs are used for fuel diaphragms, printing roll covers, seals and gaskets, hoses, refrigerator hoses, and o-rings. 

In NBR and NBR/PVC-based low Durometer printing roll covers, castor factice is more effective than rapeseed or soybean factice at holding in, and in some cases replacing, liquid plasticizer thereby reducing the tendency for exudation. Factice addition of 10-20 phr improves the precision grinding characteristics and allows more control of roll surface finish. 

The application of flexible sheet material to the surface of mandrels, called roll covering, is used in a variety of industries that include printing, paper, textiles, steel, office machinery, plastic fabricating lines, and many others (Figure 9.4). Their use includes to compress, drive, emboss, convey, protect, dye, suction, treat, pickle, paint, and print.

Typical of the temporary or manufacturing aid coating systems is the RISTON dry film photoresist for printed circuit (PC) board fabrication. This was the first of these systems developed. The RISTON product structure and the basic steps in its use are shown in Figure 2. It consists of a photopolymer sheet laminated between a Mylar cover sheet and a polyolefin separation sheet. It is manufactured as a continuous web (see Coating processes, survey), and is supplied in rolls of varying width and photopolymer composition.
