When you complete the test, check your answers, and then compare your score with the one you received on the pretest. Your new score should be significantly higher, but if it s not, review the lessons that teach the skills on which you tested poorly. Whatever your score, keep this book on hand for reference as you continue on your academic journey. 

This section provides answers, sample answers, and explanations for the pretest, practice exercises, and posttest. Use the answers and explanations to assess your understanding of the lessons. But keep in mind that many of the exercises call for a written response, and those responses will be different for each person who completes the exercises. Suggested answers will demonstrate how one student successfully completed the assignment. 

On the next page, you will find an answer sheet for the pretest. If you do not own this book, you can write the numbers 1-50 on a piece of blank paper and mark your answers there. Before you begin, relax, find a quiet place to work, and take as much time as you need for this short test. Once you have finished, you can check your answers with the answer key at the end of this the test. Every... 

Now that you have completed all the lessons in this book, take the post-test to see how much you have learned and what you remember. The questions should be much easier for you to answer than in the pretest, but if you still need further explanation, the answer key provides a reference for you. Each answer lists the chapter that will explain any question you answered incorrectly. 

Social scientists have begun serious research in this vital area and only recently has the subject been covered openly. To measure your knowledge in this subject, answer the questions on the following pretest. Correct answers follow the questions. 

The Verbal section of the GRE presents you with questions very much like those on the preceding sample test. As you can see from the pretest, a good vocabulary will help you immensely. In addition, numerous strategies can help you maximize your chances of correctly answering the questions, which this chapter will discuss. 

The following pretest will help you determine the skills you have already mastered and what skills you need to improve. After you check your answers, read through the skills sections and concentrate on the topics that gave you trouble on the pretest. The skills section is followed by 80 practice problems that mirror those found on the GRE. Make sure to look over the explanations, as well as the answers, when you check to see how you did. When you complete the practice problems, you will have a better idea of how to focus on your studying for the GRE. 

Do not time yourself on the pretest. Solve each question as best you can. When you are finished with the test, review the answers and explanations that immediately follow the test. Make note of the kinds of errors you made and focus on these problems while studying the rest of this book. 

Chapter 3 is a math pretest. This test serves as a warm-up, giving you a flavor for the range of math questions found on the SAT. Answers and explanations follow the pretest. 

THE PRETEST IS only practice. If you did not do as well as you anticipated, do not be alarmed and certainly do not despair. The purpose of the quiz is to help you focus your efforts so that you can improve. It is important to analyze your results carefully. Look beyond your score, and consider why you answered some questions incorrectly. Some questions to ask yourself when you review your wrong answers ... 

After the pretest, begin the lessons, study the example problems, and try the practice problems. Check your answers as you go along, so if you miss a question, you can study a little more before moving on to the next lesson. 

The pretest will show you what topics you have mastered, what topics you need to review, and maybe even some topics you need to learn for the first time. If you struggle with or are unable to solve any of these questions, review the answer explanations that follow the test. The explanations also provide the chapter in which the skill being tested is taught. 

Save your answers after you have completed the pretest. When you have finished learning the concepts in this book, take the posttest. Compare your pretest to your posttest to see how you ve improved. 

After completing the posttest, check your answers. Explanations are provided for every answer, along with the chapter in which the skill being tested is taught. Compare your score on the posttest to your score on the pretest. Did you improve Did you learn from any mistakes you made in the pretest The posttest can help you identify which areas you have mastered and which areas you need to practice. Return to the chapters that cover the topics that are tough for you until those topics become your strengths. You ll be able to ace the pretest, the posttest, and any other test on fractions, decimals, and percents.

Chemistry Success teaches basic chemistry concepts in 20 self-paced lessons. Subjects were 27 college students recruited from introductory psychology classes. These students had relatively weak problem-solving skills On a pretest of 10 multistep word problems, they averaged four wrong answers. 

Your book also includes a pretest and a posttest to help you evaluate word power before and after using the lessons. On the pretest, you re not expected to get all the answers right. If you did, you wouldn t need this book ... 

Figures 3, 4, and 5 provide an analysis of the pre- and post-test results for Modules 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Each set of module data were also analyzed by comparing the percentage of correct responses to individual items on the pretest versus post-testing. Of the eight questions used to assess student learning for Module 1, changes from pre- to post-testing were statistically significant for six of the questions. Students were able to answer the majority of the questions more accurately after implementation of the module, indicating an increase in student learning.
