Pressurized saturated steam characteristics

It has been assumed in estimating thermodynamic characteristics that the amount of 60.3 t/h of saturated steam with temperature 548 K (275 °C), whose pressure is 5.95 MPa... [Pg.298]

Fig. 7-3. The purpose of this reactor was to investigate the nuclear and chemical characteristics of a circulating uranium solution reactor at temperatures and powers sufficiently high for the production of electricity from the thermal energy released. Specifically, it was designed to operate with a full-power heat release of 0.6 to 3.5 million Btu/hr (200 to 1000 kw of heat), and a maximum fuel-solution temperature of 482°F, yielding, after heat exchange, a saturated-steam pressure of about 200 psi. For diabatic flow, that is, one-component flow with subcooled and saturated nucleate boiling, bubbles may exist at the wall of the tube and in the liquid boundary layer. In an investigation of steam-water flow characteristics at high pressures, Kirillov et al. (1978) showed the effects of mass flux and heat flux on the dependence of wave crest amplitude, 8f, on the steam quality, X (Fig. 3.46). The effects of mass and heat fluxes on the relative frictional pressure losses are shown in Figure 3.47. These experimental data agree quite satisfactorily with Tarasova s recommendation (Sec. 3.5.3). [Pg.232]

SATUR OR TOTAL TEMP. EXHAUST STEAM PRESSURE MOTOR CHARACTERISTICS ... [Pg.706]

Since there is little flexibility in the choice of Tr, which is set by the characteristics of the external water supply for the condenser, the achievement of a high thermal efficiency makes it necessary to operate with steam at the highest practicable temperature. This in turn means that the primary coolant should also be at a high temperature. In order to prevent boiling at this temperature, the primary circuit must be run at a pressure well above the saturation pressure of water at the temperature of the coolant. The most basic limitation on the primary coolant temperature is set by the condition that the fuel pins must remain at a temperature below that at which damage might occur to the cladding or the fuel itself. In practice, in a water-cooled... [Pg.205]
