Predicasts Promt

Predicasts Promt (PROMT) file is not specialized in chemistry. Still, chemical information amounts to about 33% of the file contents. Nearly 2500 sources are evaluated. Predicasts records all the English written sources in full text format. In 1993, 60% of the records were full text documents. This is a means of avoiding original document delivery. File updating is daily with 2500 new documents. [Pg.243]

Although there are no Registry Numbers in the PROMT file, there is a hierarchic product code, supporting up to seven levels. The example of bisphenol A (Fig. 147) may demonstrate how deeply the code goes into detail. The code is truncated automatically. [Pg.243]

Code 28 is the most interesting for chemists. See the complete product code in Manual Predicasts User s Manual. The main advantage is the opportunity to search for product categories as a whole e.g. Surface Active Agents or Plastic and Rubber Chemicals. In the context of usual substance-orientated indexing, such queries are difficult to search, because the complete list of substance names must then be entered individually. [Pg.243]

Moreover, Predicasts provides codes for countries and events, thus giving the possibiliy to refine the search by joining criteria with regard to geography and contents, e.g. Marketing Procedures or Sales Consumption. Special Features (FEAT) give even more exact descriptions of the articles (Fig. 148)  [Pg.243]

Special Features may thus be used as simple means of restricting the search to tabular records  [Pg.243]

In the following sections, every single database mentioned above will be explained and illustrated by a typical search. Other databases that are relevant to chemical subjects will also be presented among them Beilstein, Chemical Business News Base, Gmelin, Predicasts Promt and the World Patents Index. [Pg.142]

This chapter intends to introduce CIN as well as, briefly, the databases Chemical Business News Base and Predicasts Promt, being the most important sources for business information. [Pg.236]

Along with the Chemical Industry Notes file, CIN, produced by Chemical Abstracts Service, there is the Chemical Business News Base, CBNB, produced by the Royal Society of Chemistry as well as Predicasts Promt, PROMT, by the International Access Company (lAC) providing comprehensive access to chemical business data. Searches in Chemical Industry Notes and Chemical Business News Base may be processed together, provided they are restricted to Basic Index searching, in order to check and eliminate duplicates. [Pg.241]

The Predicasts Overview of Markets and Technologies (PROMT) is a database that provides international coverage of companies, products, markets, and applied technologies for industries. PROMT abstracts more than 1000 worldwide business publications. PROMT derives information from ... [Pg.26]
