Binders in Ceramics, Powder Metallurgy, and Water-Based Coatings of Fluorescent Lamps. In coatings and ceramics appHcations, the suspension rheology needs to be modified to obtain a uniform dispersion of fine particles in the finished product. When PEO is used as a binder in aqueous suspensions, it is possible to remove PEO completely in less than 5 min by baking at temperatures of 400°C. This property has been successfully commercialized in several ceramic appHcations, in powder metallurgy, and in water-based coatings of fluorescent lamps (164—168). [Pg.344]

The processing of metals by powder metallurgy has unique advantages and the resulting products have excellent properties.P l Several metal powders for powder metallurgy are now produced by CVD, mostly on an experimental basis. These include ... [Pg.477]

For example, the first reason why the powder metallurgy did not widely use this combustion-based technology is that some SHS-products cannot compete with conventional furnace products due to the high cost of initial precursors. The second obstacle, which occurs in the way of implementation of SHS powders in industry, is due to the fact that their properties are different from that for the conventional counterparts. This does not mean that the properties of SHS products are worse. The point is that the technologies of manufacture materials and articles by sintering or HP were developed for the traditional furnace-made powders. [Pg.73]

In powder metallurgy autohesive and adhesive processes are involved in extrusion and pressing techniques and in the production of finished articles from the original powdered material they also affect the free-running properties of powders. [Pg.332]
