Potassium thioarsenates

The double salt, Na3(NH4)3(AsS4)2, is obtained w hen alcohol is added to a mixture of the two thioarsenates in molecular proportions, or when a solution containing ammonium chloride and sodium orthothioarsenate is allowed to evaporate it crystallises as pale yellow hexagonal prisms. A corresponding sodium-potassium salt is obtained by evaporation of a solution of the mixed orthothioarsenates.1... [Pg.280]

The potassium salt. K3As0 2S 2. H20, is unstable. It has been obtained in an impure form by treating the precipitate resulting from the action of hydrogen sulphide on aqueous potassium orthoarsenate with potassium hydroxide.6 On evaporation of the solution, the salt separates in yellow, hygroscopic crystals which cannot be recrystallised owing to decomposition to orthoarsenate and thioarsenate. [Pg.283]
