Polyolefin fibers Finishes

The main applications for P.Y. 139 are all types of paints including automotive finishes, plastics like polyolefin fibers and PVC and packaging inks. P.Y. 185 is mainly used for the coloration of plastics and in packaging inks. [Pg.225]

Antistatic finishes and antioxidants normally used on synthetic fibers are added to the polymer melt prior to polyolefin fiber formation. The most common antioxidants used include hindered substituted phenols, organo-metallic antioxidants, and substituted phenols. Blending of comaiomers with polyolefin prior to fiber formation is used not only to improve dye-abil ity but al so to plasticize the fiber and improve other fiber properties. Polyolefins may be effectively made flame retardant through incorporation of a metal oxide such as antimony oxide in conjunction with a brominated hydrocarbon or brominated organophosphate. [Pg.210]

Uses O/w and fragrance emulsifier and solublizer for shampoos, conditioners, and bath prods. o/w emulsifier, viscosity modifier, and wetting agent in household specialties lubricant and emulsifier in synthetic fiber finish oil fomiulations antifog in PVC anti-static agent in polyolefins Features Mild foaming anti-irritant... [Pg.663]

Uses Fiber finish, wricking agent for polyolefin and polyester fibers which are processed info nonwovens, e.g., diaper coversteck antistat for carding operations Features Hydrophilic semidurable longer lasting perfonnance applied neat or as aq. emulsion good processability free of volafile soivs. [Pg.1387]

Cyclic oligomeric phosphonates with the varying degrees of structural complexity (Structure 5.4) are also available in the market.25 They are widely used as flame-retardant finishes for polyester fabrics. After the phosphonate is applied from an aqueous solution, the fabric is heated to swell and soften the fibers, thus allowing the phosphonate to be absorbed and strongly held. It is also a useful retardant in polyester resins, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, polyamide-6, and in textile back coatings. A bicyclic pentaerythritol phosphate has been more recently introduced into the market for use in thermosets as well as for polyolefins (preferably, in combination with melamine or ammonium polyphosphate)... [Pg.112]

Uses U V absorber/stabilizer for plastics incl. thermoplastic PU, rigid and plasticized PVC, PVB, PMMA, PC, PVdC, EVOH, EVA, spin finishes for PA, PET, PU, PP fibers, latexes, waxes, adhesives, PS, styrenic copolymers, elastomers, polyolefins... [Pg.861]
