Polyether based supports

Polyurethanes. Polyester base polyurethanes were reported to support fungal growth better than polyether base polyurethanes (15). Polyurethanes derived from cellulose hydrolysates were degraded by cellusin... [Pg.216]

These supports have recently been introduced to the market and comprise a hydrophihc polyether-based material of large pore size, to... [Pg.53]

Plastics vary in their susceptibility to micro-organisms. Plastics based on polyesters are attacked fairly rapidly, whilst the polyether based plastics are much more resistant. However, the situation is a very complex one, as many of the plasticisers and vulcanisers used in the production of plastics are able to support microbial growth. Once these have been removed, the plastic frequently becomes brittle irrespective of type. [Pg.23]

Comb-branched copolymer and block copolymer architectures are similar in that they are generally based on short polyether chains supported in some manner to give the material its mechanical stability. Success has been variable in attempts to... [Pg.633]

In 1990, a solid-phase immunobead assay (SPIA), with colored polystyrene particles coated with anti-CTX monoclonal antibody (MAb-CTX) began to be used for direct detection of ciguatoxins adsorbed on bamboo paddles coated with organic correction fluid. The membrane immunob-ead assay (MIA) presented by in 1998 Hokama et al. is based on the immunological principles used to develop the SPIA, using a MAb-CTX coated onto colored polystyrene beads. The polyether toxins extracted from a piece of fish tissue bind to the hydrophobic membrane on a plastic support (membrane stick), and can be detected with the MAb-CTX coated onto the colored polystyrene beads. The color intensity of the membrane is related to the concentration of the toxin bound to the membrane. [Pg.621]

As reported in the literature, interference fringes in many vertical aqueous films are horizontal with little curvature. These films also displayed mobile surfaces, rapid and extensive surface flows and rapid rates of drainage [22, 28-30]. These features were all linked to the presence of a low surface viscosity. Based on our experimental observations, the PU films stabilised by DABCO DC 198 have low surface viscosities. This conclusion is supported by reports of measurements of low surface viscosities in polyol solutions containing silicone polyether surfactants [12, 15, 38]. [Pg.225]

A number of other comb-shaped polyethers containing coordinatively active oxyethylene side chains attached to a supporting, seemingly nonactive, polymer backbone have been prepared with low TgS [9, 15]. They include comb-shaped polymers based on ethylene oxide monomers having... [Pg.83]
