Poly methylester

In 1991, Newkome and Lin 121 reported a series of acid terminated poly(ether amido) dendrimers (e.g., 3, 4), generated from the tetraacid core (1) and sequential use of the amino acid building block 2 (Scheme 7.1). These acid-terminated dendrimers were readily transformed 131 into the related polytryptophane analogues (5-7) by treatment with tryptophane methylester hydrochloride employing a common peptide coupling procedure (DCC 1-HBT in DMF). 141 The resultant chiral cascade series was examined via ORD/CD and the preliminary data indicate a linear relationship between optical rotation and the number of surface tryptophane moieties. [Pg.183]

To improve the limit-of-detection, we replaced the 16 mm vacuum deposited CuPc/Cgg bilayer devices with 1 mm solution-processed polymer devices based on 1 1 blends by weight of poly(3-hexylthiophene) [P3HT] and [6, 6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid-methylester [PCBM] - a soluble derivative of Ceo- The P3HT PCBM devices fabricated in our laboratory typically have very low short-circuit dark current densities of <10 mA cm , and are consequently a good choice for high sensitivity detection [21]. If DCPD is copolymerized with other NBE-type monomers like 2-norbornene-5-methylester (NBE-ME), using 4 as catalyst, the Tg of the so obtained copolymers decrease linearly with the NBE-ME content from 145°C (pure DCPD) to 57°C (pure NBE-ME) and the swelling in toluene increases from 100 to >900%, pointing to a sharp decrease in the crosslink density. This and similar experiments with other comonomers suggest a random incorporation of the comonomer into the poly(DCPD) network. [Pg.38]

The principles of OSCs have been outlined in detail elsewhere. Various types of cell architectures have been proposed of which three are of main interest (1) bulk heterojunction solar cells in which electron donors and acceptor are homogeneously mixed to jointly form a functional layer, for example, poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) as the donor and substituted fullerenes like [6,6]-phe-nyl-C61-butyric acid methylester (PCBM) as the acceptor (2) multilayer devices of vacuum-deposited small molecules and (3) dye-sensitized nanostructured oxide cells, for example, dyes attached to the surface of nano-Ti02. [Pg.216]

Tomalia presented the synthesis of dendrimers as Starburst polymers, which consisted of poly(amide-amine)s as shown in Scheme 1 [2]. The core molecule in this case was ammonia, and the building block was methylacrylate. First, ammonia reacted with methylacrylate by a Michael-type addition. The obtained ester-terminated molecule was treated with a large excess amount of ethylene-diamine to form amino groups at the terminal positions (generation 0, GO). In this reaction, the methylester is the protected form of the amine, and the treatment with ethylenediamine (ester-amide transformation) corresponds to the deprotection of the ester function. Treatment of this amine-terminated molecule again with methylacrylate results in the formation of another terminal methyl-ester group. The molecule can be extended by repeating these operations. [Pg.270]
