Biologists are quite sure that reagents are not homogeneously mixed in living systems. Chemical physicists striving to understand the ultrafast, primary processes of chemical change know that uniform concentration is too cmde an approximation for their purposes. Nonetheless, the assumption of a weU-stirred mixture is so pervasive that kineticists rarely point it out in their reports.

F. Polyethylene polymer autoclav e type reactors usually contain 8 to 120 impellers of the same or different circulation designs on a single shaft to ensure rapid total homogeneous mixing in the reactor, w hich contains a gas at about 30,000 psi and, hence, the fluid is neither a gas or a liquid because the densities are about the same. 

The products of oil oxidation will attack metals, and this can be prevented by keeping the system free from pro-oxidative impurities and by the use of anti-oxidants. These additives will not, however, prevent rusting of ferrous surfaces when air and water are present in the mineral oil. The presence of absorbed air and moisture is inevitable in lubricating systems and therefore the oil must be inhibited against rusting. These additives, which are homogeneously mixed with the oil, have an affinity for metal, and a strongly absorbed oil film is formed on the metal surface, which prevents the access of air and moisture. 

The alternative to batch mode operation is continuous operation. In the continuous mode there is a continuous flow of medium into the fermentor and of product stream out of the fermentor. Continuous bioprocesses often use homogenously mixed whole cell suspensions. However, immobilised cell or enzyme processes generally operate in continuous plug flow reactors, without mixing (see Figure 2.1, packed-bed reactors). 

The simplest situation is the symmetrical one (NA = NB), with the solvent equally good for both blocks. We imagine that the excluded volume interactions of A and B are stronger than the A-B repulsive interactions so that the overall structure of the layer is like that of a single component in other words, both components are equally stretched. The issue is whether or not they are homogeneously mixed with one another in the monolayer. This is essentially a two-dimensional random mixing process. In that spirit, we write the free energy...

Limited formation of mixed crystals occurs when the two components have different structures, as for example in the case of indium and cadmium. Mixed crystals containing much indium and little cadmium have the structure of indium, while those containing little indium and much cadmium have the cadmium structure. The major problems with the substitution of the reducing agent ammonia for urea are on the one hand the homogeneous mixing of urea and exhaust gas and on the other hand the limited residence time in SCR systems for the different decomposition steps, i.e. the evaporation of water from the droplet, the thermolysis of urea to isocyanic acid and the following hydrolysis to ammonia [18].
