Deltamethrin is a crystalline powder, white or slightly beige in color. The formulations include emulsifiable concentrates, wettable powders, ultra-low volume and flowable formulations, and granules. There are no known incompatibilities with other common insecticides and fungicides. It is used as a contact poison to control apple and pear suckers, plum fruit moths, caterpillars on brassicas, pea moths, aphids (apples, plums, hops), winter moths (apples and plums), and codling and tortrix moths (apples). It also is used in control of aphids, mealybugs, scale insects, and whiteflies on glasshouse cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, potted plants, and ornamentals.9-11... 

Chalcidid wasps parasitize leafroller eggs and caterpillars, codling moth caterpillars, plum leafroller caterpillars, fruit tortricid caterpillars, San Jose scale, woolly aphids and small ermine moths. 

Tree stunted or dying. Cause Plum leaf scale. This disease is common in the Southeast. There is no cure. Dig up infected plants and replant with a resistant cultivar such as AU-Rosa or AU-Amber . 

Pheromones are chemicals that are used by animals and plants for communication. Insects utilize pheromones extensively to indicate their availability for reproduction, to sound alarms, and to make known the presence of food. The use of pheromones in small amounts in traps can interfere with the reproduction of harmful insects in an environmentally friendly manner. Recently, Grubbs second-generation catalyst (24) was used to synthesize on an industrial scale the sex attractant pheromone of the peach twig borer, a pest that attacks peach, plum, nectarine, and almond crops.46 Equation 11.16 shows how Ru-catalyzed metathesis of 5-decene and l,10-diacetoxy-5-decene produces a 50% yield of E-Z mixture (the desired E-isomer predominates, and the presence of small amounts of Z-isomer does not lower the activity of the pheromone) of the desired pheromone at low temperature. The unreacted starting materials are recovered by vacuum distillation and recycled. 

The pH scale is a logarithmic scale therefore, a change of 1 pH unit corresponds to a tenfold change in H30 concentration. For example, a lime witir a pH of 2.0 is 10 times more acidic than a plum with a pH of 3.0 and 100 hmes more acidic than a cherry with a pH of 4.0. Each change of 1 in pH scale corresponds to a change of 10 in [H30 ] ( Figure 14.17).
