Plant protection chemical future development

The agrochemical industry can contribute to sustainable development in the course of this century by offering agrochemicals and environmental health chemicals. In this paper, the author first discusses the mission of die agrochemical industry for human welfare with respect to plant protection and environmental health business. He also describes his ideas on how the agricultural chemical business should be advanced by focusing on the example of Sumitomo Chemical. He then outlines the current situation and future outlook of the environmental health business. [Pg.4]

Chemical research is the precursor of production. Its aim is to devise solutions to problems that are valid for the long term. The total time required for research, process development, and planning and designing a plant (i.e., until the start of production) is at least six years. New developments must therefore be planned so that even after this time they are still state of the art.
