Plant emergencies performance requirements

At present, there is hardly a market for widespread EV use. Were it to emerge in the near future, no electrochemical plants would be ready to power electric vehicles, except for the lead-acid battery. The development of candidate systems, capable of better performance, requires a long time and extensive scientific and... [Pg.426]

The most reliable type of battery for engine starting is the Plants high-performance type. The standby engine is, of course, required for many emergency applications where maximum reliability is essential. These applications include emergency lighting sprinkler systems, industrial processes, telecommunications, and any auxiliary power requirements. [Pg.507]

As process plants become more complex, it becomes apparent that it is not possible to rely exclusively on the process worker s skills and memory required to perform the task. Job aids and procedures are devices which aim to reduce the need for human retention of procedures and references as well as the amount of decision making required. Job aids assume a variety of formats including flowcharts, checklists, decision tables, etc., while procedures refer to other systems of documentation such as standard operating instmctions and emergency procedures. [Pg.122]

Emergency maintenance is that work which is required to be performed without delay due to a failure of a component which, if not implemented, would lead to further failures or even permanent damage, resulting in the total loss of the plant and equipment. Plant and equipment in such a condition may also be dangerous to personnel. [Pg.785]

All safety related activities shall be performed in conformity with documents issued in accordance with approved administrative procedures. The availability and correct use of written OPs, including surveillance procedures, is an important contribution to the safe operation of a nuclear power plant. The IAEA Safety Requirements [1] state that operating procedures shall be developed which apply comprehensively for normal, abnormal and emergency conditions (Ref. [1], para. 5.11). [Pg.20]
