Steam-Electric Plant (Conventional) A plant in which the prime mover is a steam turbine. The steam used to drive the turbine is produced in a boiler where fossil fuels are burned. 

Long Life. This is determined essentially by resistance to a) thermal degradation and b) irreversible poisoning. In some plants, conventional iron catalysts have achieved service lives of up to 14 years. 

By using two commercial plants conventionally, the trial production of two-stage calcined coke has been carried out and calcined coke samples have been distributed to the graphite electrode manufacturing companies for their evaluation.

Dry Steam Geothermal Plants - Conventional turbine generators are used with the dry steam resources. The steam is used directly, eliminating the need for boilers and boiler fuel that characterizes other steam-power-generating technologies. This technology is limited because dry-steam hydrothermal resources are extremely rare. The Geysers, in California, is the nation s only dry steam field. 

In the dismantling of the metallic structures and components of the plant, conventional as well as newly developed cutting techniques are applied besides mechanical techniques, others such as plasma torch and laser cutting techniques are available. By using appropriate installations, uncontrolled dissemination of radioactive particles during this work can be reliably precluded. The subsequent treatment of the dismantled parts depends both on the level and on the state of the radionuclides associated with them.
