Planet - Protein-ligand Association Network

Planet is a Cabinet server that provides information about protein-ligand interactions. Data are read in the PDB format for observed or hypothetical interactions. Each data object is a relationship between a protein and one or more ligands and other small molecules (cofactors, etc.). Several specific relationships are explored the relationships between small and big molecules, between protein chain residues and relationships based on EC numbers. [Pg.254]

Planet interacts with itself and with other Cabinet servers in different ways depending on what relationship is desired. Searching is available by protein chain alignment and ligand structural similarity within Planet itself by selecting similar. En2yme functionality and ligand-structure search across all Cabinet databases is available with the related button. [Pg.254]

EC book is an index server that provides access to enzymes and EC numbers. EC numbers are assigned by the Enzyme Commission on the basis of enzyme functionality [37]. Each EC number consists of four levels of function. There are six main classes of enzymes. The EC book database is usually updated once a year (but more frequently in recent years). [Pg.254]

EC book is usefully connected to Wombat, Empath, Planet and WDI, where many EC numbers appear. [Pg.254]

WDI is a comprehensive database of named drugs. These include marketed drugs, drugs in development, new chemical entities and trial preparations [38]. The data come from journal articles and conference reports. WDI is updated quarterly. [Pg.254]
