Microwave irradiation at 150 °C for 15 min produced butyl- and piperidyl benzamides in 65-83% yield (Scheme 4.1). In one example where the amine was omitted and ethylene glycol was used as cosolvent, the corresponding benzoic acid was produced in 87% yield.
