Pipe supports dimensions

Type of Supports. Figure 7-59 shows typical yard steel bents with dimensions. The total available yard width to each type of support is included in the table of dimensions. This tabulation can be used for selecting a type of yard support after the total required width has been estimated. The most commonly used yard piping supports are Types 2, 3, 4 and 5. 

Standard and special dimensions and designs to be employed, for example for clearance under walkways, arrangement of expansion loops, installation of insulation, and pipe supports. Special process requirements must be considered in this context, for instance if there is a need for avoidance of pockets of stagnating process material, and consequent orientation of branch connections, etc., or piping that is rapidly demountable for cleaning. 

Piping. Suits piping layout nozzles correctly dimensioned allowable nozzle loadings co-ordinated with loads from piping pipe support brackets provided where needed. 

Sliding supports (or shoes) and brackets shall be designed to resist the forces due to friction in addition to the loads imposed by bearing. The dimensions of the support shall provide for the expected movement of the supported piping. 

The functional requirements of the vessel capacity, general shape and dimensions, internals, type and overall dimensions of support, piping and instrumentation connections and access openings, lifting lugs, and positions of pads and brackets for miscellaneous steelwork connections. 

Suitability as per process flow diagrams and piping and instramentation diagrams mirstbe corrfirmed by providing all inlet and exit nozzles and their orientations. Overall dimensions and weight must not disturb other process unit and structural supports.
