Sparkling pigments

Food pigments, sweeteners and a preservatives were quantitatively determined by TLC in sparkling and non-sparkling drinks. TLC separations were carried out on ready-made silica plates using 2-propanol-12.5 per cent aqueous ammonia (10 2, v/v) and ethanol-2-propanol-12.5 per cent aqueous ammonia (10 40 1, v.v) as mobile phases for the separation of pigments and sweeteners and preservatives, respectively. Samples were used as... [Pg.390]

Mica-Tek has an interesting approach to exploiting the variety of forms and colors of mica. A range of mica-based products have been developed which differ in the color and the shape of particle as well as in their glittering and sparkling effects. These decorative pigments are used in housewares, bathwares, toys, interior decorating, etc. [Pg.114]

Formation of new pigments during the manufacture of sparkling wines cavas). [Pg.99]

The formation of andiocyanin pigments was analyzed by HPLC-ESI-MS and monitored by HPLC-DAD during the second fermentation of a base Vitis vinifera L cv Gamacha wine (following the champenoise method to obtain a cava or sparkling wine). [Pg.118]

The stability of the 4-vinyI derivatives is therefore greater than the new pigments of the cava, and they form during the nine months during which the base wine is transformed into a sparkling wine. [Pg.121]

Thus, with adjustments to size, size distribution, and shape, aluminum pigments can be used to create various kinds of "sparkle" effects. Pigment supplier Silberline categorizes five different kinds of aluminum flake effects [9-15] ... [Pg.149]

Pinpoint sparkle uses spherical pigment particles of 30-45 im median size to produce random light reflections from particles beneath the plastic surface. [Pg.149]

High sparkle uses large pigment flakes up to 250 xm in size that provide distinct, bright surface reflections and a metallic sheen. [Pg.149]

Pigments are added to give a plastic color, but fliey may also affect the physical properties. Extenders are usually cheap materials added to reduce the cost of a plastic resin. Dyes are colorants chemically different than pigments. Mica is a special pigment added to impact sparkle or metallic appearance. Titanium dioxide (Ti02) and carbon black are two important pigments that merit further discussion. [Pg.14]

Sparkle Silvet, Resin-based aluminum pigment, Silberline Mfg. Co., Inc. [Pg.935]

These are pigments based on thin platelets of transparent mica, coated with titanium dioxide or iron oxide, producing interference patterns. Titanium dioxide (Ti()2)-coated mica pigments have a 2-10 pm particle size, for incrca.sed lustre, whiteness, and coverage there are also silver sparkle effects. A two-tone effect can be obtained with absorption colours deposited directly on interference pigments of TiOj-coated mica (such as Mearlin Dynacolor). [Pg.63]

Optical Properties. Many packages need sparkling clarity to display their contents (see Optical Properties). Other packages have printing over nearly all of the surface area or the product must be protected from uv radiation. White, brown, and black pigmented layers are combined to protect light-sensitive products. [Pg.1494]
