Photographic Supports

This drawback can be mitigated by subjecting the free surface of the poly(olefin) layer to a corona discharge immediately after the poly(olefin) layer is coated on the paper support. [Pg.55]

In this way the exudation of the optical brightening agent from the surface of the poly(olefin) is prevented. In addition, a second corona discharge immediately prior to coating light-sensitive emulsion layer is necessary. [Pg.55]

A derivative of 163, 3-(2-morpholinoethylthio)[l,2,4]triazino[5,6-fo]indole dihydrochloride, is used as a thrombolytic (91URP1672373). Derivatives of the pyrazolo[5,l-c][l, 2,4]tria-zines were used as a constituent of silver halide color photographic supported material, which showed good color reproducibility [91JAP(K)03/291649]. The protective action of [l,2,4]triazino[4,3-a]benzimidazoles as corrosion inhibitors was studied (91MI8). [Pg.155]

Model A cannot be eliminated definitely by the photographs there are, however, some points which make this model improbable. From the curve for this model the first minimum would be expected to be at least as well pronounced as the second minimum, whereas on the photographs the first minimum is not very well defined. That the qualitative appearance of the photographs supports model C rather than model A is further shown by the fact that the photographs resemble those of methyl nitrate more closely than those of carbon tetrafluoride. Some evidence is also provided by the radial distribution curve (Fig. 1), the first peak being displaced by 0.15 A. from the position expected for it for model A. For these reasons and the additional reason that it is difficult to correlate the tetrahedral configuration with an electronic structure involving only completed octets, we consider model A not to be satisfactory.7... [Pg.639]

The authors are indebted to Sia Timmerman for her unfailing assistance in the preparation of the manuscript. We thank Paul Weise for providing photographic support and Bonno Hylkema, M.D., and Rend Brouwer, M.D., for their suggestions and careful review of the manuscript. [Pg.107]

Permanent images can be produced by irradiation of cinnamoyl ferrocene (and substitution products thereof) on a photographic support. An insoluble yellow compound is formed in the areas of exposure, which remains after treatment with a solvent (dissolving the unreacted starting material). Iodoform is a sensitizer of this reaction 138>. [Pg.205]

Chemical Sensitization. After the photographic microcrystals are precipitated but before they are coated on a support, the crystals are treated to enhance their sensitivity to light. Chemical sensitization is a process which improves that abiUty of the emulsion grains to use the absorbed photons, independent of the wavelength. Various methods of post-precipitation chemical sensitization have been developed to reduce the number of photons required to produce a developable latent-image center. [Pg.447]

All consumer films and professional stock continue to be offered on cellulose triacetate. All its X-ray and micro photographic film is supported on PET. Only Advantix is on PEN. The primary issue is the cost of PEN, which may be why it has not been adopted widely in packaging. Its transport characteristics for bottles is excellent because of its physical characteristics. Its cost is high but a premium price in a premium product is more acceptable than it would be in Kodak s mainstream product range. [Pg.175]

Moseley photographed characteristic spectra for some 38 elements that could serve as x-ray tube targets. In two papers,37 he not only uncovered structure in the K and L spectra—he alscr established the atomic number as more fundamental than the atomic weight, and he provided brilliant support for- the Bohr theory of atomic structure. [Pg.28]

The author thanks Drs. Jane Bottenstein and Bernard Schimmer for photographs of differentiated cells, and The Educational Technology Department of The State University of New York at Buffalo for illustrations. The sample is assembled into the permeation cell after first having had its thickness accurately measured, with the sample supported by a stainless steel porous sinter (not visible in the photographs). The test cell is heated to test temperature by suitably controlled band-heaters, test temperature being measured by a thermocouple located close to the sample. Test gases are boosted to test pressure using a gas intensifier operated by pressurized air. [Pg.643]

In contrast to the Pt catalysts discussed above, Ni based catalysts (i.e., also when supported on ZrO usually form coke at such a rapid rate that most fixed bed reactors are completely blocked after a few minutes time on stream (see Fig. 8) [16], The coke formed with the Ni catalysts is filamentous. The Ni particle remaining at the tip of the filament hardly deactivates as the coke formed on its surface seems to be transported through the metal particle into the carbon fibre, but the drastic increase in volume causes reactor plugging and prevents use of the still active catalyst (see Fig. 8). The TEM photographs indicate that the carbon filaments have similar diameters to those of the Ni particles. [Pg.471]
