As in the case ofFe(CO)s the metal d orbitals ofFe(PF3)s and Ru(PF3)5 split into a[, e, and e" levels in D3h symmetry, and both doubly degenerate MOs are fully occupied (Table XXVII). The first two UPS peaks of these compounds therefore correspond to the production of the 2E and 2E" Fe 3cMike ionic states. Group theoretical considerations indicate that 2E, 2 A (2), and 2A 2 ionic states should arise from ionization of the metal-phosphorus o-bonding MOs. These ionizations are evidently degenerate in Fe(PF3)s, and only three of the four ionizations are detectable in Ru(PF3)s (169). The assignments in Table XXVIII should therefore be viewed with caution. [Pg.109]

As we have seen (pp. 50 et seq.) the reaction between phosphorus o dichlorofluoride and alcohols, phenols and thiols, affords dialkyl, dicycloalkyl, diaryl phosphorofluoridates and dialkyl phosphorodithiolates. In a Report to the Ministry of Supply on fluorophosphonates a description was given of a new type of nitrogen fluorophosphonate formed by the action of 4 mol. of aniline on 1 mol. of phosphorus oxydichlorofluoride, the fluorine atom being unaffected ... [Pg.87]

The first experimental proof of the mechanism of the silylation in the McKenna reaction has been presented by Blazewska. The reaction of a model compound isotopically enriched diethyl phenylphosphonates (644) (P= 0 or P= 0) showed that reaction in acetonitrile proceeded via an attack of P=0 ojgrgen on the silicon atom in hromotrimethylsilane (Scheme 188). The change in the phosphorus-o g gen hond order was directly detected using P and NMR spectroscopy. [Pg.320]
