Formulations for one-shot polyether systems are similar to those used for flexible foams and contain polyether, isocyanate, catalyst, surfactant and water. Trichloroethyl phosphate is also often used as a flame retardant. As with polyesters, diphenylmethane di-isocyanate is usually preferred to TDI because of its lower volatility. Tertiary amines and organo-tin catalysts are used as with the flexible foams but not necessarily in combination. Silicone oil surfactants are again found to be good foam stabilisers. Volatile liquids such as trichlorofluoro-methane have been widely used as supplementary blowing agents and give products of low density and of very low thermal conductivity. [Pg.801]

Myoinositol bis(trichloroethyl)phosphates were not as stable to pyridine at 20°, as were the related benzyl analogs. ... [Pg.681]

Hot acetone (4.5 liters) was added to this syrup and the clear solution stood at room temperature for 2 hours and then at 0°C overnight. The white crystalline solid was filtered off, washed with acetone (2 x 400 ml) and dried at 60°C in vacuo to give sodium trichloroethyl hydrogen phosphate (414 grams, 49.3% of theory from trichloroethanol). [Pg.1536]

O / O Miscellaneous Reactions. A study of the reactions of halogeno-olefins with phosphorus trichloride and oxygen has shown that phosphates [e.g. rra/i5-l,2-dichloroethylene gives 1,2,2-trichloroethyl phosphorodi-chloridate, (29)] are the major products. The minor product was identified as the analogous phosphonate (30), which had previously been reported... [Pg.45]

Once ignited they produced considerable amounts of heat and smoke. Flame retarded flexible PU foams became available in 1954-55, i.e. within a few years of flexible PU foams becoming available in commercial quantities(22). These FR PU foams contained trichloroethyl phosphate or brominated phosphate esters and resisted ignition from small flame sources. Unfortunately they may burn when subjected to a larger ignition source or when covered by a flammable fabric and may then produce as much heat and more smoke than the standard grade of PU foam(3). This was identified by UK room tests in the early 1970 s and has been confirmed more recently by furniture calorimeter tests at the NBS(21). [Pg.503]

Reaction occurred at the primary hydroxyl group in thymidine on treatment with dibenzyl phosphorochloridate in acetonitrile containing pyridine,207 and the bulky bis(2,2,2-trichloroethyl) phosphorochloridate reacts208 with nucleosides to afford nucleoside 5 -[bis(2,2,2-trichloroethyl) phosphates] in yields of 40-70% the... [Pg.48]

By a corresponding reaction with phosphorus oxychloride2 in the presence of aluminium chloride and other catalysts such as ferric chloride, iodine, etc., trichloroethyl phosphate can be prepared in a stepwise fashion. This and related compounds possess the property of reducing the inflammability of organic materials and are recommended for special clothing. [Pg.115]

For conversion into the 2,3,4,2, 6 -pentapalmitoyl analog of 1-dephospho lipid A, compound requires only the debenzyl-ation of 0-1 and 0-3, and the cleavage of the trichloroethyl groups from the 4 -phosphate moiety. Work on the deprotection of this compound is in progress. [Pg.273]

Variables in the production of tributyl phosphate have been discussed. In the presence of relatively large amounts (5—15 molar equivalents) ofcaesium fluoride or quaternary ammonium fluorides, 2,2,2-trichloroethyl phosphate esters readily trans-esterify with alcohols the sequential replacement of trichloroethyl groups becomes slower, so allowing the preparation of mixed (including cyclic) trialkyl phosphate esters, with the exception of those from t-butyl alcohol. ... [Pg.102]

Dichlorovos may be prepared in several ways. Methanol is treated with chloral (CCI3-CHO) and PCI3 to get dimethyl-l-hydroxy-2,2,2-trichloroethyl phosphate (55), which is heated with 25% NaOH to yield dichlorovos (23) [60]. Alternatively, chloral alcoholate (56), the precursor of chloral prepared by passing chlorine into cooled ethanol, is allowed to react with (MeO)jP to form dichlorovos [61]. In another approach, methanol is treated with PCI3 to get (MeO)3P (57) [62]. This reaction may also be carried out in the presence of CuCl at - 10 C to yield the adduct (MeO)3P.CuCl (58) [63]. Reaction of 57 or 58 with chloral yields dichlorovos (23) [62,63]. [Pg.136]
