Similarly, in a study titled When nicotine is not nicotine, Philip Morris researchers observed that cigarettes that had been oversprayed with nicotine citrate were half as effective in nicotine transport and delivery when compared with those sprayed with nicotine as the base the latter were perceived as having higher mouth/throat impact (Gullotta et al. 1989). [Pg.472]

RJR researchers discussed differences among their products and those of competitor Philip Morris. They observed that the Marlboro has less smoke nicotine than Winston, but a higher level of weaker bases, such as pyrazines. These weaker bases... [Pg.475]

Figure 13.9—Schematic of a sequential, crystal-based spectrometer and the spectrum obtained using the sequential method with an instrument having a goniometer. The Soller slit collimator, made of metallic parallel sheets, collimates the primary X-ray beam emitted by a high power source (SRS 300 instrument, reproduced by permission of Siemens). A typical spectrum of an alloy, obtained by an instrument of this category, having an LiF crystal (200) with 26 angle in degrees as the abscissa and intensity in Cps as the ordinate). Model Philips PW2400 Spectrum, reproduced with permission of VALDI-France. While the development of the Taft parameter is similar to that of Hammett and Hansch, / )-val ucs are based on rate constants instead of equilibrium constants. The Taft parameter is a measure of changes in activation energy, not standard free energy. Of the Hammett, Hansch, and Taft parameters, the Taft parameter is utilized the least in QSAR studies. Other steric parameters have been developed over time, and like the Taft parameter, all have shortcomings. One alternative steric parameter was developed by Marvin Charton of Pratt Institute in New York. Charton s parameter is based on the van der Waal radius of a substituent.6 Another alternative steric model is the STERIMOL parameter set developed by Arie Verloop of Philips-Duphar in Holland.7 Unlike Taft and Charton, Verloop... [Pg.305]

Case study based on early certified products of Philips smart card In conclusion, the visualization of the generics/components and their relationships (beside the existing correspondence matrices), and improved evidence material management were implemented. [Pg.6]
